Biography

Liam Monaghan is a writer, artist-researcher, and educator. At MacEwan University Library, he is the Writing Centre Programs Specialist; his approach to teaching academic writing is grounded in such evidence-based pedagogies as Rhetorical Genre Theory and Writing in the Disciplines. He was previously Program Coordinator of the Centre for Writing and Scholarly Communication at the University of British Columbia and has taught as a sessional instructor in the Department of Drama at the University of Alberta.

Liam’s research-creation has been supported by grants from the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada, the Government of Alberta, and the Edmonton Arts Council. His practice crosses the literary and performing arts, currently with a specialization in auto/biographical modes of artistic and scholarly inquiry and a focus on themes relevant to queer/LGBTQ+ experience.
